Circadian Rhythym Disorder (CRD)

Interaction With Shift Work

Persons engaged in shift work may be more susceptible for CRD:

A shift worker is one who works a schedule different from the typical “9 to 5” day.
Each change in shift work produces a circadian challenge for sleep-wake activity.

Common problems for shift workers include difficulty with sleeping during the daytime hours as well as maintaining alertness at night.

Sleepiness/fatigue in the work place can lead to poor concentration, absenteeism, accidents, errors, injuries, and fatalities.condition involves the involuntary movement of the legs.

    • Circadian rhythm sleep disturbances occur when a regular sleep-wake schedule is disrupted causing difficulty with daytime alertness.

    • These disturbances can occur at inappropriate times.
